I've been friends with DJ 4am aka Jason Chavez for almost 20 years! I first met Jason when he was working in the Hip Hop section of Amoeba Records in San Francisco, California. We not only bonded over Hip-Hop but our shared experiences having both worked Record Store Retail (in the past, I worked for Tower Records & Rasputin's). Our sensibilities in Hip Hop were similiar but varied enough. To me, I always thought of Jason as the Latin version of Madlib due to his deep crate-digging and sampling arrangements/sequences. So when I got the opportunity to hear the 'Ferias' project produced by Jason...it was no brainer what had to come next...

So I went up into the Santa Cruz mountains (located in Northen CA/San Francisco Bay Area region) for a whole week to record this project with the big homie BrownBubbleBear with DJ 4am aka Jason Chavez handling the production. While recording, we made an intentional effort to take and ingest all the drugs we could muster. Starting off with Mary Jane and graduatiing up to more exotic drugs. The sessions started off lovely with '2 Sides of The Same Coin.' But by the 3rd song, I Guess I Suppose,' my drug-use during the recording sessions gets real heavy and my thoughts go darker and is reflected in the lyrics. By the 4th song, 'Ha Ha Ha Shish,' I'm not feeling like myself and physically I'm not feeling well. Shortly after recording the 5th song, 'Disturbed,' I take a break from recording for a whole day due to feeling ill and dehydration. On that day off from recording, I slept all day. However, the following day, I felt alot better so I'm able to record the last song, 'Chambacu!'
