This is a free download promo only mixtape & also a small tribute to the big homie who has also been a mentor through out the years but more importantly...Kurt has been a long time friend! I first met Kurt while I was interning to be a radio deejay at KZSU (a college radio located in the San Francisco Bay Area/Norcal). At the time, Kurt was the resident Deejay for The Drum Show (which at this time in 1991 had been the longest running Hip Hop College Radio Show on the West Coast & was hosted by DJ Kevvy Kev). So while interning on the Drum Show, I met Kurt and we hit it off. A couple of years after meeting and becoming friends, I started coming up to Kurt's studio in Santa Cruz, CA and together we recorded a demo of what would later be called the 'Blabber Demo's 1995-1995' which is now availlable on vinyl for purchase on Kurt's record label website www.threshrecs.com. But things wouldn't end there and then in 2014...Waxploitation Records (the home of the Alkaholics & Danger Mouse at the time) released Kutmasta Kurt Presents Dopestyle 1231. On this album, I went under the moniker of Dopestyle and the 1231 came from the fact that the producer of the album TomC3 and myself were both born on 12/31. That album included features from Del The Funky Homosapien, Vast Aire of Cannibal Ox, and Kool Keith (the Kool Keith cameo-song from LP is also included on this mixtape). Then in 2004, the Diesel Truckers (Kool Keith + Kutmasta Kurt) is released on Threshold Recordings and I returned the favor by recording vocals on the title song, "Diesel Trucking" with Kool Keith. This is the 1st mixtape I've recorded and is very special to me beause not only I'm a fan of Kurt's production but Kurt is somone I can truthfully say I know is a friend! So feel free to download this small, short but sweet labor of love to the big homie who has always been a supportive mentor and friend through some of my darkest days, ill-made choices, and some of the brightest moments of my life.
