Growing up in East Palo Alto, the closest colleg radio was 90.1FM KZSU. The first time I heard Johnathan, he was a member of the Members Only Crew (which included DJ Kevvy Kev) on the posse cut, "You're Not Down." But before hearing and buying the 12' single, I would listen Johnathan as a Deejay & host who helmed the radio show, 'The Drum' before it was put soley in the hands of DJ Kevvy Kev. Many years later, I would become a college Deejay at 90/1 FM KZSU under the moniker of Dopestyle with 'The Dopestyle Ambrosia Turquise & Peyote Show' as well as other different names for my radio shows over the 5 years I deejayed at KZSU.
While deejaying at KZSU, I would meet the ever enigmatic and elusive individual I knew as Johnathan Brown. In the years I've known Johnathan, he has always beat to the rhythym of a different drummer and has always held steadfast in his vision and values. This project is a culmination of our collaboration. Hopefully in the future, there will be more collaborative projects with Johnathan Brown and myself.
